Aims

To introduce the concept of sampling and the issues associated with it, and outline the main methods used for selecting a representative sample.

Objectives

After working through this session, you will be able to:

• describe the key issues to consider in sampling
• understand the principles of basic sampling methods
• select a sample that is representative of the population in different situations
• explain what is meant by equal probability selection methods

This session will take approximately 3 hours to complete.
