Aims
This session is intended as an introduction to the background and use of Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). It also touches on other related surveys, such as AIDS Indicator Surveys and Service Provision Assessment Surveys.
Objectives
After working through this module you should be able to:
- Describe what DHS are
- Be aware of other types of surveys run by DHS
- Understand the types of data DHS make available to researchers and why they are important
- Discuss the sampling strategy and data collection process used by DHS
- Be aware of some of the issues in analysis of DHS data
This session will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.
